What Clients Say About Shoreline Health Solutions…
We recently worked with Shoreline Health Solutions to complete our
policy and procedure manual, which is approximately 1,000 pages. They provided us with excellent quality work
that demonstrated their strong command of the subject matter. The final manual they wrote for us utilized
clear, well-written text. The manual was
well-organized and user-friendly.
Shoreline was extremely responsive to our needs, and promptly replied to
our emails and phone calls. They were
flexible in their ability to accommodate our schedules, yet still met the
project goals and timetables. We worked
with them to set interim timelines for deliverables, and they made
recommendations to help keep the project on schedule. Everything they did for us was delivered on
time or early.
We also appreciated their friendly, yet professional manner in all our
dealings with them. They are a great
team to work with, I highly recommend them.

We hired Shoreline
on two occasions to review applications submitted to our Foundation for startup
and expansion of Federally Qualified Health Centers. Throughout both engagements, we consistently
found Shoreline staff to be knowledgeable, helpful, flexible, and easy to work
with.
Shoreline brought a
broad range of high-level FQHC expertise to our review process, which enhanced
the ability of our Board members to evaluate the quality and strengths of each
application. They also identified key
issues in each proposal that required further elaboration prior to Board member
review. For example, they helped us
formulate key questions about staffing and budgetary issues, identified cases
in which patient projections appeared unrealistic, and appraised each
applicant’s approach to program sustainability.
Board members frequently commented on the clarity and usefulness of review
materials provided by Shoreline, and on the benefit of Shoreline’s input to our
review process.
Overall, working
with Shoreline was a very positive experience.
Their contribution to our review process clearly added great value. As a result, we plan to work with them again
in the near future.

Shoreline Health Solutions consultants have written multiple grants for
us, with excellent results. The quality
and comprehensiveness of their work is top notch. Proof of that is in the amount of grant
funding they have obtained for us, and the high scores these proposals were
given by the Objective Review Committee.
The Expanded Medical Capacity grant they wrote for us scored a 94 out of
100 possible points, and the Dental Expansion grant they wrote scored a
99. They also recently helped us get a
$1.87 million Health Information Technology grant for Electronic Health
Records.
Shoreline’s consultants are very familiar with the 330 funding streams,
what the Feds are looking for, and how best to present each piece of
information requested within a grant guidance.
Their writing ability is excellent.
They are skilled at handling data and statistics related to health
disparities and effectively discussing how the data demonstrates need in the
community. I also appreciate their solid
understanding of CHC budgets, and their ability to format and present written
materials in exactly the way the Feds want it.
Working with Shoreline on grants, I know I can count on timely
submission, often ahead of the grant deadline.
Given their experience and understanding of the health center
environment, I have had an excellent experience working with them.

I had an overwhelmingly positive experience working with Shoreline. They had a detail-oriented and personalized
approach to writing our federal Service Area Competition grant. They met with all our key management staff
and really got a feel for our organization’s strengths and priorities. They are easy to
talk to, reasonable, outstandingly helpful with suggestions, realistic, and
willing to write a grant we could feel comfortable with. Shoreline’s calm and careful approach
to writing our grant made us feel at ease throughout the whole process.
At the beginning of the project, Shoreline gave us a timeline for
project completion, which clarified when we needed to have various pieces of
information to them, and when they would have each grant component to us for
our review. I also appreciated the
payment schedule we created with them that allowed us to spread out our
payments, with very gracious reminders when payments were due.
Shoreline staff were honest with us about what they felt would present
the strongest possible grant application, and provided alternatives for how to
achieve this. Their work on our patient
projections helped us come up with numbers that are achievable and
realistic. Development of our budget was
a big challenge in preparing this grant - we faced some external uncertainties
and fiscal pressures. Shoreline staff
were patient and supportive, and helped us develop a budget that we felt comfortable
with.
Most importantly, Shoreline made our health center their own, and felt a
strong investment in our success. The
grant was personal and meaningful to them, and reflected who we are and the
work we do.
I wholeheartedly and enthusiastically recommend Shoreline. They have a high level of skill and
expertise, and the end product they gave us was exemplary.

Shoreline has a
remarkable depth and breadth of knowledge of community health centers, and of
the types of issues we face. They are
always professional and well-prepared, with great follow-through.
We have worked with
Shoreline on developing forms, tracking tools, and preparation of grant
proposals, as well as facilitating process improvements in patient flow. The success of our work together is evident
in grant proposals that have been consistently funded, and through tools that
are still in use years after they were developed. The tools they have created for us include
incident tracking and patient complaint tracking systems, which we have been
able to easily adapt over the years to meet our changing needs.
Shoreline brings
their expertise to each project, but at the same time the deliverables and
products they have created for us are specific to our health center. They work in collaboration with us, making
sure that the deliverables are organic to our organization, and can be easily
integrated into our operational systems.
We continue our long-standing relationship with Shoreline, and highly
recommend them to other community health centers.

I have worked with the consultants at Shoreline on a number of projects,
including community needs assessment, grant writing, development of policies
and procedures, staff training, and preparing a new health center for state
licensure.
The quality of their work has always been exceptional. They are a small company that incorporates a
very personal touch with all the work they do.
You are not dealing with layers of people like you would at a larger
firm.
Shoreline is very “hands-on,” in their work style. They travel on-site whenever needed, and also
accomplish a lot remotely. They work
quickly, meeting timelines and achieving their goals. I have enjoyed working with the consultants
at Shoreline, and plan to continue working with them in the future.

When Trudy was on staff at our health center, she worked with us to
prepare for our very first JCAHO survey.
The JCAHO preparation process was initially overwhelming, we were
starting from zero. Trudy was so helpful
in making the process and the terminology accessible. She created an organized structure that
integrated and engaged all our staff in participation, which was a challenging
task for a project of that magnitude.
For JCAHO preparation, she drafted our policies and procedures covering
everything from patient care to facility maintenance. The policies are so well written and
accessible, it’s not like reading a legal brief the way many policies are. Any staff member can open up one of our
policies and understand exactly what they need to do. The policies were based specifically on our
systems and the way our health center operates.
Trudy also wrote training materials, trained staff, helped prepare the
health center’s leadership team, and developed and implemented our performance
improvement program.
Trudy started Shoreline Health Solutions in 2000, and we have had
continual contracts with them ever since.
With deadlines, there is no doubt you can really count on them. If something needs to be done, they will get
it done. They are really good at
concrete thinking. They start from the
end point you are trying to reach and work backwards to develop project phases
and figure out what needs to be done at each point in time.
Molly has worked with us specifically on data management, developing
data trackers to help us identify trends as they emerge. She’s done a fantastic job and is so easy to
work with. The user-friendly tools Trudy
and Molly created for us help us track implementation activities, incidents,
drills, and PI activities.
We recently worked with Trudy on a PI project to improve patient flow,
visit efficiency, and billing practices.
This project included various levels of staff -- clinicians, medical
assistants, nurses, operations, and leadership.
Trudy knows how to ask the right questions and can easily converse with
all levels of staff. If someone starts
to talk, she manages to crystallize the question that needs to be asked.
The Shoreline team is easy to work with.
They really understand the dynamics that are unique to community health
centers. They can walk into a health
center and understand how it functions, what processes will work best for their
needs. I highly recommend them for any
community health center needing help with data management, and operational or
JCAHO-related work.

Shoreline Health Solutions staff worked with us to identify grant
funding opportunities and write a federal grant. They came in already understanding who we
are, who are partners are, and definitely understanding community health
centers. One of the things that made me
very comfortable working with Trudy and Molly is that they took the time to
understand our specific needs, and to make sure these needs were met throughout
the project. The materials they
developed for us were very thorough and user-friendly. I would definitely recommend Shoreline, and
won’t hesitate to call them for future projects.

Working with Shoreline Health Solutions on our 330 application has been
a wonderful experience. The staff are extremely knowledgeable, very
talented and always responsive. Trudy is great to work with. She
was very kind, understanding and patient with us throughout the whole grant
process.
We had written what we felt was a nearly finished first draft, but when
Shoreline reviewed it we found that it required a lot more work. Trudy
talked us through each section and provided detailed comments which she
inserted into each paragraph that we were working on. This allowed us to
easily make the changes and add additional materials right where they were
needed. She had very keen insights into what changes we needed to make
and how to best strengthen the application.
As the deadline was approaching we became increasingly nervous about
being able to complete it on-time. Trudy was always available when we
needed help and stayed with us to the very end.
The quality of Shoreline’s work is exceptional. We are a new
clinic and with their help were able to turn an average first draft into a
great completed product. We ended-up scoring a 95!
I would definitely recommend Shoreline Health Solutions to anyone who
desires to create an outstanding proposal.

One thing I appreciated most about our Shoreline consultants was their
ability to truly listen, so that their work accurately reflected our needs,
priorities, and the specific characteristics of our health center. The strong working relationship that we
developed with them was the result of frequent communication – it was always a
2-way conversation in which they listened to our needs, helped us to meet those
needs, and made sure we were comfortable with the deliverables before
finalizing anything.
To help us prepare for our JCAHO Accreditation Survey, Shoreline
developed a comprehensive policy and procedure manual for us. They had a clear understanding of the
problems with our existing policies, and how to modify them to be
JCAHO-compliant. They incorporated our
existing policies into the manual, identified policies we needed to add, and
drafted new policies for us. The manual
is comprehensive, and fully satisfied the expectations of our JCAHO surveyors.
Shoreline also helped us with implementation of JCAHO-required systems –
including working with us on our system for peer review, analyzing peer review
data, creating data reports, and setting up an electronic tracking system for
incident and patient complaint tracking.
Ultimately, our JCAHO survey was highly successful, and the work and
expertise of Shoreline was a key contributing factor for our success.
I highly recommend Shoreline as a consistently high-quality team,
especially in the area of JCAHO Accreditation.

I have worked with Shoreline Health Solutions on two federal grants over
the past two years. They are experienced
grant writers. The grants they wrote for
us captured our community’s story.
Shoreline did an excellent job emphasizing our community’s specific
needs, and how our health center is filling or proposes to fill that need.
We had absolutely no challenges in working with Shoreline. They set a schedule with us, and met all
deadlines on time or early. The
deliverables we received were 100% comprehensive and easy to understand. The grants were perfectly written - clear,
concise, easy to follow and interesting to read. The grants demonstrated that we were
fulfilling the mission of HRSA’s grantees, and doing so in a way that makes
fiscal sense.
I have no hesitation in recommending Shoreline to any of my
colleagues.
